In tandem with the View From Up Here: The Arctic at the Center of the World exhibition, the atrium graphics were part of creating a museum-wide "Polar Lab" environment. The museum’s Living Room was an experimental space where visitors could explore Northern elements through images, text, music and experiences. This was an important first step towards a permanent redesign of the atrium in 2017 into a more contemporary hang out space within the museum.

Through illustrations and text, the atrium graphics explored various elements specific to the arctic, such as pingos, pancake ice, and narwhal.
