ON ICE focused on the dynamic, ever-changing sea ice through the voice of scientists and photographers. Divided into eight sections, the exhibition touched on the impacts of the changing sea ice on indigenous hunters, wildlife and marine life, conservation, industry, tourism, shipping, coastal communities, and US and global interests.

Illustrated ice shapes and vertical blue neon lights served as section dividers, while words unique to extremely cold places and their definitions, such as "ice foot" and "ice port," trailed along the tops of the walls. Large-scale quotes adorned the walls near relevant photographs within each section, providing a visual undulation similar to the varied forms of sea ice in the Arctic.
